LITIGATION: THE DOOR IS CLOSING

An article I wrote appeared recently in Texas Hill Country publications. In it, I discussed Rules the Texas Supreme Court had proposed affecting lawsuits with amounts of less than $100,000.00 involved. I will post the article itself to Roland's Law Blog later, but for now, I have attached a well-written letter sent by one of my colleagues to the Texas Supreme Court in hopes they would either allow the Rules to be used only when the parties agreed to use them or that they would alter some of the more egregious provisions. The proposed Rules have now gone into effect with a few relatively minor changes (for example, each side gets 8 hours to present their case instead of the orginally proposed 5 hours). I commend the attached article to you. It is disturbing that the Court treats matters that are of great importance to many people as being unworthy of our judicial system's reasonable attention.
